This was based on a commercially available Louis Garneau jersey design. Modifications were made by Jaye Haworth. It was selected as the official Canada jersey following a jersey design competition - see the other entries.

An early version of this was referred to as the "bug jersey", but alterations were made by Jaye which removed some of the bugginess. Nevertheless the bug jersey name stuck for some people, though officially it was called the "flames jersey".
